The automotive market’s demand for more efficient solutions that result in low cost has been constantly increasing. It is up to companies to invest more and more in Research & Development to keep up with this growth.
Recently, a partnership with Caetano Coatings has helped in the development of new solutions that solve the challenges presented by battery compartments for electric and autonomous vehicles.
The system consists of the use of different industrial processes and results in the application of three coatings for the treatment of the surfaces of the boxes where the vehicle batteries are housed.
The first layer undergoes a Cataphoresis process that offers the outer hull a high level of protection against the effects of corrosion. This automated process results in high yield rates and cost efficiency, proving to be a sustainable advantage.
In a second step, a layer of anti-static powder is applied that offers electromagnetic shielding and prevents electrostatic discharge. This is an extremely advantageous solution, given the fact that it is not necessary to use other layers of metals that generate an increase in the final cost.
Finally, a fire-retardant layer is applied to the interior and exterior surfaces of the enclosure, completing the process. This solution, developed jointly by the two companies, is more advantageous and competitive than the alternatives currently employed by the industry, which use ceramics or cushions, which are thicker, heavier and present other challenges inherent to their production.
These low-cost innovations and exceptional functionality aim to fill the gaps that the automotive industry currently finds with suppliers. Partnerships like this make the electric vehicle industry safer and more competitive.
